Immerse Kingdoms: Whose Voice Will You Follow
Immerse: KINGDOMS journey through 1 Samuel 1–10, we considered a question that reaches into every area of our lives: Whose Voice Will You Follow?
Four stories revealed different responses to God’s voice.
Hannah surrendered her deepest desire, finding peace in God’s presence before receiving an answer to her prayer.
Eli knew God’s ways but struggled to act faithfully when obedience threatened something he loved.
Samuel listened and responded, even when God’s message was uncomfortable.
Israel wanted a king like the surrounding nations, revealing how easily human expectations can compete with trust in God.
Jesus reminds us, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27
Spiritual maturity isn’t simply knowing what God has said. It’s learning to trust Him enough to follow.
As you begin this week, consider: What competing voice might God be inviting me to surrender?
May our response be, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.”
This Week’s Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for knowing us, loving us, and inviting us to recognize Your voice.
Like Hannah, teach us to bring our deepest desires before You with open hands. Where we have allowed relationships, fears, or competing loyalties to influence our obedience, gently bring us back to You.
Give us hearts like Samuel’s—willing to listen and courageous enough to follow, even when the path is uncomfortable.
Forgive us for the times we have sought security in human expectations rather than trusting Your presence and promises.
Holy Spirit, help us recognize Your leading through Your Word and respond with faith.
May our lives reflect not simply that we have heard Your voice, but that we belong to You and are following You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Weekly Challenge: Make Room for His Voice
This week, intentionally create space to listen before you act.
Each morning, begin with Samuel’s simple prayer:
“Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.” — 1 Samuel 3:9
Read John 10:27 and spend a few quiet moments with the Lord.
Consider one decision, relationship, concern, or desire currently occupying your thoughts.
Ask yourself:
- What voices are influencing how I see this situation?
- What has God already revealed through His Word?
- What would trusting and following Him look like today?
Then take one faithful step in response—not to earn God’s favor, but because you know and trust the One who is leading you.
Remember: Listening to Jesus is not simply hearing His voice. It is trusting Him enough to follow.
